IIM Mumbai Executive MBA 2027: Fees, Eligibility, Programmes and Admission Dates

IIM Mumbai, formerly NITIE and ranked 6th in the NIRF 2025 Management Rankings, runs five executive and post-graduate programmes for the January 2027 batch: a two-year weekend MBA-PGPM, a one-year Executive MBA in Wealth Management, a two-year full-time MBA (Creative Industries) with Whistling Woods International, a one-year online Post Graduate Program in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management, and a one-year blended Post Graduate Program in Public Policy Management. Fees range from Rs 6,00,000 to Rs 21,00,000, CAT is not mandatory, and the next entrance test, the home-proctored IMAT, is on 08 November 2026.

This guide puts every programme side by side, then walks through each one, the shared admission timeline, and the questions applicants ask most. Everything below is taken from the official IIM Mumbai Executive Education pages as of 29 October 2026, so check the programme page before you pay anything, because institutes do revise dates.

Three things apply to all five. The application fee is Rs 3,000 and is non-refundable. The seat-securing amount is Rs 1,00,000, which is part of the total fee. And every programme lists IIM Mumbai alumni status on completion.

A sixth programme, the one-year Post Graduate Programme in Creative Leadership (Artpreneur) with the Kailash Kher Academy for Learning Art, is also listed on the site at Rs 7,50,000, but its start date is yet to be announced, so it is left out of the comparisons here.

Who is eligible

The baseline across the portfolio is a bachelor's degree in any discipline. After that, the programmes diverge on work experience and marks:

  • MBA-PGPM: graduation in any discipline and at least 2 years of relevant post-graduation work experience.
  • Executive MBA, Wealth Management: graduation in any discipline with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience. The page says candidates with banking and wealth-management experience are encouraged to apply.
  • MBA (Creative Industries): bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50 percent marks or equivalent CGPA (45 percent for SC, ST and PwD candidates) from a recognised university. No work experience is required, which makes it the only programme in this set open to fresh graduates.
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management: bachelor's degree with 50 percent (45 percent for SC, ST and PwD), at least 1 year of post-graduation experience, and a Statement of Purpose describing your business idea. Preference goes to applicants with startup, family business, R&D or other entrepreneurial experience, with documents.
  • Public Policy Management: bachelor's degree with 50 percent (45 percent for SC, ST and PwD) and at least 5 years of work experience after graduation.

If you are a working professional with two to four years behind you, the realistic options are the weekend MBA-PGPM, the Wealth Management EMBA and the entrepreneurship programme. The public policy programme is deliberately pitched at people with five or more years, and its visiting faculty list (former Chief Secretaries of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, among others) reflects that seniority.

Entrance tests: IMAT, CAT, GMAT or GRE

You do not need a CAT score to apply to IIM Mumbai's executive programmes. Each programme accepts one of two routes:

  1. IMAT, the IIM Mumbai Admission Test. It is an online, home-proctored test scheduled for 08 November 2026. The Creative Industries MBA uses a version the site calls the Creative Industries IMAT.
  2. A valid CAT, GMAT or GRE score. The public policy page specifies a score obtained within the last five years, and the entrepreneurship page FAQ asks for CAT, GMAT or GRE scores from June 2024 onwards. If your score is older than that, plan on IMAT.

Shortlisted candidates then attend a personal interview. The entrepreneurship page publishes its selection weights, which is a useful signal of what the committee values: the test score carries 40 marks, the personal interview 30, graduation marks 10, relevant entrepreneurial or family-business experience 10, and Class X and XII 5 each. The other programmes do not publish a weighting.

For a full breakdown of the test, including how it compares with CAT, read the IMAT 2026 guide. If you are deciding between routes, Executive MBA without CAT explains how GMAT and GRE scores are used across IIM executive programmes.

Programme by programme

MBA-PGPM: the two-year weekend MBA

The MBA-PGPM is IIM Mumbai's general-management MBA for people who keep their jobs. Classes run on Saturdays and Sundays for two years across six modules: 16 core courses, 16 electives across finance, marketing, operations, analytics and HR, a group project in the first year and a two-stage capstone in the second.

You can take it two ways. PGPM means offline classes on the Powai campus. ePGPM means live virtual interactive classes delivered at IIM Mumbai outreach centres in Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi NCR, with the same curriculum and faculty. The certificate names the variant you attended.

The fee depends on the centre and the payment plan. At the Mumbai campus it is Rs 18,00,000 if you pay in two annual instalments of Rs 8,50,000 after the Rs 1,00,000 seat fee, or Rs 19,00,000 if you pay module-wise in four instalments of Rs 4,50,000. At the outreach centres the fee table shows Rs 14,50,000 on the annual plan and Rs 15,00,000 module-wise. Both exclude the Rs 3,000 application fee and a Rs 50,000 refundable caution deposit.

Two rules worth knowing before you enrol: attendance below 75 percent costs you grades (65 to 75 percent means one grade down, 50 to 65 percent two grades down, below 50 percent an F and no exam), and the programme page makes no placement claims. This is a programme for people who want the degree and the network while staying employed. The detailed MBA-PGPM guide covers the module-by-module curriculum and each of the six cities.

Executive MBA, Wealth Management: one year, on campus, 50 seats

The Executive MBA in Wealth Management is a one-year, weekend, non-residential MBA taught on the Powai campus, with 50 seats for Batch 2 starting January 2027. The curriculum is built for people who already work with clients' money or want to: 20 core courses across four modules covering behavioural finance, wealth products, asset allocation, estate planning, derivatives strategies, investment tax planning, mutual fund distribution guidelines, insurance, financial planning and the use of AI and machine learning in wealth management, plus four electives, two capstone stages and workshops on credit structuring, tax computation and family-office portfolio analysis.

The fee is Rs 15,00,000 inclusive of taxes, paid as the Rs 1,00,000 seat-securing amount and two instalments of Rs 7,00,000. One line in the FAQ deserves to be read twice: "Placement support is not offered." Applicants should come in with a job or a client book to grow, not an expectation of campus placement. For the qualification ladder in this field, from NISM certifications to CFP and this EMBA, see wealth management courses in India.

MBA (Creative Industries): the full-time MBA with Whistling Woods

The Two-Year MBA (Creative Industries) is the outlier in this list because it is full-time and open to fresh graduates. The site describes it as the first MBA among the IIMs built for the creative industry. Students spend Monday and Tuesday at IIM Mumbai and Wednesday to Saturday at Whistling Woods International in Film City, Goregaon, the institute founded in 2006 by filmmaker Subhash Ghai.

The structure is seven modules, 120 credits and 1,200 learning hours: modules 1 to 3 build core management and media foundations, module 4 is a 60-hour industry internship project, and modules 5 to 7 cover media strategy and business models with a 6-credit capstone. In line with NEP 2020, students who leave after one semester receive a certificate, after one year a Post Graduate Diploma, and after two years the MBA from IIM Mumbai. Intake is 70 seats. Admission is through CAT, GMAT, GRE or the Creative Industries IMAT, followed by an interview (the page also lists a group discussion).

The fee is Rs 21,00,000 inclusive of taxes: a Rs 1,00,000 seat booking plus Rs 20,00,000 paid in full, in two instalments of Rs 10,00,000 or four of Rs 5,00,000, with a Rs 50,000 refundable caution deposit on top. The MBA in media and entertainment guide compares this format with other routes into the industry.

PG Program for Executives in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management: online, one year, Rs 6 lakh

The PGPEx-EIM is the most affordable programme in the set and the only one built around your own venture. It runs online on Friday evenings and weekends for one year, with two mandatory three-day immersions on campus (the first includes a design-thinking workshop and an incubation-centre visit, the second a pitch day with CXOs, mentors and investors). Travel and stay for immersions are at your own cost.

The academic spine is 15 core courses, 4 electives and three capstone projects that move your idea from a venture blueprint to market validation to a Founder's Thesis, which the page describes as an investment-ready plan. Participants get 30 hours of structured mentorship across 10 sessions with CXOs and investors, and can apply to take their capstone venture into IIM Mumbai's TEJAS entrepreneurship and incubation initiative, subject to screening.

Fees are Rs 6,00,000 in a single instalment (Rs 1,00,000 seat plus Rs 5,00,000) or Rs 6,25,000 in two instalments, plus a Rs 25,000 refundable caution deposit. The programme is chaired by Dr. Ruchita Gupta with Prof. Vartika Srivastava as co-chair. It is explicitly aimed at working professionals, aspiring founders, managers who lead innovation, and family business owners; the family business management guide looks at that last group in detail.

PG Program in Public Policy Management: blended, one year, for people with five years' experience

The PG Program in Public Policy Management is a 60-credit, one-year programme that blends live online weekend classes (Friday 6 to 9 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm, about 15 hours a week) with four on-campus immersions at IIM Mumbai. The award is a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy Management, not an MBA, with IIM Mumbai alumni status.

The curriculum across four modules runs from the fundamentals of public policy, policy analytics and economics for policy making, through public finance and budgeting, behavioural economics and game theory, policy implementation and project management, to technology and governance, ethics and accountability, crisis management and sustainability policy, ending in a 6-credit policy research project. Programme chair Prof. Poonam Singh and co-chair Prof. Veepan Kumar lead a faculty roster that includes visiting faculty such as Shri Sitaram Kunte, former Chief Secretary of Maharashtra, Shri Durga Shankar Mishra, former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, and Dr. Tirthankar Patnaik, Chief Economist at the NSE.

The fee is Rs 8,75,000, paid as a Rs 1,00,000 seat booking and either Rs 7,75,000 in one go or two instalments of Rs 3,87,500. Eligibility requires at least five years of work experience after graduation. The public policy courses guide compares this format with full-time master's programmes and short certificates.

What the fees do and do not include

Every total above is inclusive of taxes and excludes the Rs 3,000 application fee. The refundable caution deposit is Rs 50,000 for the MBA-PGPM and the Creative Industries MBA and Rs 25,000 for the entrepreneurship programme. Immersion travel for the entrepreneurship and public policy programmes is yours to pay. None of the pages mention scholarships or fee waivers, so budget the full amount.

The refund rules are consistent across the MBA programmes: withdraw before the last fee-payment date and you get your money back minus Rs 1,000; withdraw after that date but before classes and the Rs 1,00,000 seat amount is forfeited; withdraw after classes begin and only the caution money comes back. For the entrepreneurship programme, withdrawal before commencement refunds the paid amount minus Rs 1,000, and after commencement only the Rs 25,000 caution deposit. Requests go in writing to execed@iimmumbai.ac.in.

A quick way to choose

A 29-year-old software engineer in Bengaluru with four years' experience who wants a general-management degree without relocating should look at the MBA-ePGPM at the Bengaluru outreach centre, at Rs 14,50,000 over two years. A relationship manager at a private bank in Mumbai with three years in the job is the profile the Wealth Management EMBA was written for. A second-generation owner of a manufacturing business in Pune who wants to professionalise and launch a new line would get more from the entrepreneurship programme's three capstones than from a general MBA. A deputy secretary-level officer, a CSR head or a consultant in government advisory with six years' experience is the public policy programme's target reader. And a 23-year-old graduate who wants to run a production house or an OTT content team, not just work in one, is who the Creative Industries MBA admits.

If you are still weighing whether any of this is worth the money and the weekends, Is an executive MBA from an IIM worth it works through the decision without a sales pitch, and Executive MBA fees in India puts these numbers next to other IIMs.

The Creative Industries MBA is full-time, Monday to Saturday.

Yes. The site states that every programme lists IIM Mumbai alumni status on completion. The Creative Industries page also mentions Whistling Woods International alumni status.
