Strong determination enabled Aman to become a software developer with Masai
Aman comes from Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. A bachelor of business administration turned developer, he never had plans of turning his life upside down. However, his ambition made him take the leap alongside Masai an outcome driven career institute.
Now a successful Associate developer with Sigitek, he takes time out of his busy schedule to share his story and experiences at Masai.
How did you find out about Masai?
One day, I was randomly scrolling through social media when an ad for Masai popped up on my feed. That was the first time I was hearing about it, but the promise of paying no upfront fees until I got placed with a job got me curious.
I started researching Masai on google and came across the website. By the time I went through everything, my mind had already been made, and I enrolled soon after.
What motivated you to transition from marketing to coding?
After finishing my BBA I was looking for a good job, however, my options were restricted to low-paying jobs. Since I found no luck with BBA, my mind shifted to other career options, which may offer better opportunities.
That’s when I realised the whole world is shifting towards tech. The market keeps expanding as our country is experiencing a tech boom too. I wanted to be a part of that boom, and that’s why I decided to learn web development as it’s so in demand.
How did your parents react?
I’m really thankful to my parents for always being supportive and encouraging. They have always respected my decisions and been there for me. Still, when I first told them about Masai they were skeptical at first.
After spending 3 years completing my graduation, I still didn’t have a job in hand. How could Masai get me a job with just 7-8 months of preparation? That too a job of 5 LPA or more! Despite that, they decided to put their faith in me and my research on Masai.
What’s your favorite thing about Masai?
Everything about Masai feels special to me. If I had to name one thing it would be the incredible support system here, which makes it so different from other colleges and institutes. The faculty and Instructional Associates (IA) are always there for you, be it doubt in your curriculum or otherwise.
There’s always someone there to support you through your journey at Masai. Alongside a great curriculum and teachers, it truly is a transformation in education. Just like the tagline says.
How was your experience with the practice-based curriculum?
My first month in Masai was probably the hardest. Having to suddenly cope with this new schedule was tough, especially when I didn’t have a habit of studying for such long hours. However, after the first month, I adapted to this new lifestyle.
It became easier to focus and study for longer. Although sometimes the hours would stretch on longer than imagined, it was smooth overall. It’s because of that schedule that I accomplished everything in such a small time, so it was worth it for me.
Tell us your placement experience
I interviewed for a total of 20 companies before I landed my current job. I believe that throughout my Masai journey, DSA remained a tricky topic for me, and that might have contributed to how long I had to wait before finally finding my dream job.
But that experience has taught me a lot too. It is because of that rejection that I no longer make the same mistakes at my current job that I made before. So the entire process of Masai has contributed to making a developer out of me.
